Presevo valley Albanians demand to be annexed to Kosovo
PRESEVO, June 15 (Tanjug) - The veterans of the disbanded Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja (OVPBM) gathered at a protest rally in central Presevo on Friday together with 500 supporters to peacefully and without incidents demand that the Presevo valley becomes independent and is annexed to Kosovo.
The leader of the Association of the OVPBM vets, Ben Kadriju, made the demand on behalf of the Association and in the name, as he said, of all Albanians from Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.
Kadriju strongly criticized the Serbian government saying that "they are not investing in this area, thus rendering life unbearable for the Albanians of this region." He set out that "all the conditions are ripe for the Albanians of this region to be entiteled to become a part of Kosovo."
The high temperatures forced the leader of the Party of Democratic Prosperity - Jonus Musliju and the former OVPBM political commessar and the leader of the Democratic Party of Albanians Ragmi Mustafa, also the current local government head, to give up their speeches.
Musfata, however, told Tanjug that in question are "old demands of the OVPBM vets" and "of all of us, recalling that "these are logical demands" because, since 1992 when they demanded independence at a referendum, "the state of Serbia has permanently throttled" them.
