According to the official data, 36 thousand of children in Ukraine were registered as homeless, beggars and self-dependant. 14,000 of them were grown in poor families, 20 thousand are professional beggars and homeless. These are mere figures, each of them hiding ruined life and destinies of children.
We don't think very often about the problem of homeless children but we can't ignore it and pass by this oroblem in silence. According to the native American saying " The hurt of one is the hurt of all". Over a half a century ago a German philosopher Martin Heidegger said: " There is no problem of what to do, there is the problem of how to start thinking".
You can see groups of children asking strangers for spare change. They wear oversized clothes, they have not been washed in months. They don't go to school. Some of them roam the streets and beg because their parents are alcoholics. Some of them are shoplifting and pickpockets. Some of them sit near a piece of cardboard inscribed with pleas for money.
The number of homeless and runaway children in streets has increased sharply over the past years. There is a lack of funds for orphanes and social programmes.
Our Government and we ourselves should pay more attention to homeless children!
